Larantuka is the capital of Flores Timur. This coastal town is the most eastern tip region of Flores. Like much of the other regions in Flores, Larantuka has a strong influenced by Portugis colonial. Overwhelmingly, almost 85% of the population are Roman Catholic. Portugis was believed landed on this area in 1600. They were here for sandalwood trade and also for spreading Catholic religion. Today, Larantuka is also known as the City of Reinha Rosary.
